HOME IMPROVEMENTS:

Home Improvements are big business in the United States. Over $100 Billion is spent on home remodeling projects annually according to www.energystar.gov. With each passing year, a growing percentage of that money is going not towards a few dollars in light bulbs or do-it-yourself projects, but on expensive goods and services from Home Improvement Centers, installed by "hand selected" contractors. Other times a local contractor is hired, either by solicitation for repairs/improvements or selected by the homeowner.

What happens if the products are in some way defective, poorly fit, damaged or simply not working? What if they were installed improperly?

What types of projects are most popular?

  • Room additions
  • Roofing
  • Kitchens and Bath
  • Basement build-out
  • Garage conversion
  • Window replacement
  • Waterproofing
  • Siding
  • Attic insulation
  • Backyard decks
  • Garage door opener
    And more.

The Orange Guys and the Blue Guys: Retailers

The dominant retailers, known as the "big box" stores for their huge 100,000 square foot warehouse stores and endless selection, we refer to as the orange guys and their competitors, the blue guys. If the products are purchased from either, or directly from suppliers, how they are installed is at least as important as the quality of the goods, if not more so, for the project to be done correctly.
